If dry cleaning is not possible, please follow these directions when washing your sari skirt for optimal results.
- Try to use your skirt as much as possible before the first wash.
- Try not to wash often, as silk is very delicate.
- Do not use soap for the first few washes. Eventually, when using soaps, shampoo, and other mild soaps are best.
- Never, use bleach and or detergents.
- Wash separately with lukewarm water, never hot water.
- Wash gently and quickly, avoid scrubbing.
- Do not keep the sari wet for a long time.
- If there are contrasting colors, wash the pallu (design) and the body of your sari separately.
- Do not ring the water out after washing rather squeeze the water out.
- Hang to dry in the shade, avoid drying in sunlight.
Ironing: Cover the sari skirt with a piece of cloth, preferably thin cotton or on a very low setting.
Stains: As different stains can be a bit tricky on pure silk, we recommend you go to your trusted dry cleaners and they spot clean the stains out of the sari skirt.
